Fair Futures CIC is looking to recruit a freelance qualified therapeutic counsellor to work in our highly successful after school/college social group for young male unaccompanied asylum seekers and refugees. You will be working in partnership with a Fair Futures colleague for 1.5 hours a week supporting a group of engaging, sociable but also vulnerable young people.

Fair Futures has been running the group since February 2022 and we are funded by the NHS Reducing Racial Inequalities in Mental Health fund. The group offers mental health support alongside social activities and provides a safe space, English support, group therapeutic work and some 1:1 time with the therapeutic counsellor, if requested. The group is run by experienced staff who have worked with marginalised communities for several years.

 

We are looking for someone who has:

• Level 4 or above Therapeutic Counsellor qualification and membership of a relevant professional body

• Competence and confidence in administering GAD-7, PH-9 and PCL-5

• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

• The ability to build positive and professional relationships with young people, carers, colleagues and external professionals

• Good ICT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel

• The ability to work effectively on their own initiative and as part of a team

• A commitment to working with vulnerable young people and a belief their potential

• A clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and the ability to follow relevant policies and procedures

• High standards of professionalism and integrity
